Oh, thank you so much! I natter a lot about remix philosophy, because I think that remixes are only worthwhile if they bring something new to the table - if they transform the original in some way. Bad remixes are boring rehashes, but good ones are both interesting stories in their own rights, as well as complements to the originals.
It's funny - my narrator really took shape in my mind as I wrote it, the old woman with a disconcertingly piercing gaze sitting in her chair, cackling by the fireside, you know, the archetypical aged crone from the fairy tales who turns out to maybe be a witch or a god in disguise. She is certainly shrewd, and she definitely has an agenda. Heck, she wrote this story. :-)
