Jaina - your comment is so fabulous, it doesn't matter when it appeared.
I love that you enjoyed the creepiness; in a previous fandom I was known as the Twisted Sister for my skewed, angsty, creepy fics, and though I usually love a happy ending no matter what I've put characters through, your original story dictated to me where this one needed to go.
I'm not much of an Ichigo/Rukia shipper...or a het shipper, at all, so I suppose there really was no chance they'd end up together. Your point about there just being enough hope to keep one reading is actually a reflection of your original -- the reader really believes Ichigo will save her, because that's what Ichigo does. I decided that in this universe of infinite possibilities, faces would change, and characters would find themselves in different positions, but in the end everything would always end in ashes. As for whether the whole thing is Aizen's doing, well, my beta asked me the same thing, and I'm not telling!
Thank you so much for your comments. I'm glad this didn't creep you out so much you disliked it.
