Wow. This is gorgeous and fantastic and awesome (in the true definition of the word meaning "awe-inspiring") and many other adjectives that mimic my original "Wow" but which I am too speechless to actually remember.

I love how this takes the original, which to me read as very hopeful and triumphant, and reversed that feeling into one of loss and betrayal with Martha's POV. Martha's struggle is done in equal inverse to Donna's return. Completely brilliant. I love how subtle you led the reader along as well; I didn't realize how badly my heart was breaking until this line: "Thank you," she says, kisses Donna on the cheek, and goes to collect her thirty pieces of silver, and then it broke completely with the end, the reversal of the beginning, how bittersweet it becomes.

I also really enjoyed Martha and Jack's exchange on the volcano, how well it shows how their individual experiences, similar in a way when viewed from outside, really lead to them having very different views on the world, with Jack calling Martha naive.

Really well done. Excellent. One of the best Who fics I have read.
