Before DH confirmed it, I'd suspected that Petunia's seemingly irrational hatred of magic/apparent hatred of Harry actually stemmed from her belief that magic had taken a once-beloved sister away from her - Petunia turned out to have far more depth than I think any of us expected, and you did a lovely job fleshing her out here. I still loathe what she does to Harry as he's growing up, but her motivations are at least understandable. And I love the way she's able to reconcile herself at the end. (Snape, seemingly forever wallowing in his past, I feel less sympathy for, but I can see the twisted logic he expresses at Lily's grave making sense to him.)
