(In true Alex-the-underdog style, I wrote an ENORMOUS gushing comment and then my browser crashed and I lost it all. D'oh!)
BUT. Basically what I said was -- I CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE THE JOY THIS BRINGS ME. So many references to Meltdown HOMG!!! So much luxuriating in the uber-dense in-jokey X-Men lore and characterization! So much incredible awesomeness in your Alex-voice, which is exactly that younger sibling balance of wry self-deprecation and vaguely irreverent good humour! And oh lord, you get his razor-sharp observational skill so perfectly; absolutely everything he does and says reminds me why I adored him so fucking much in all my tenure of things X.
I really could never have imagined that you would look at those two list-y, slightly dated fics and come up with something so fresh, fascinating, insightful, and gloriously funny! There is never a moment where you make a mis-step; it's like being in Alex's head, like being there with them slogging it through the outback in exile. His ability to see his teammates with such a clear eye is utterly riveting, and you are so good at explicating the way Alex recognizes patterns and overlays (the way he can tell Logan thinks of something different when he says "Summers", eeee!).
Plus I laughed out loud every single time he mentioned Mexico -- because nobody is archly passive-aggressive like a Summers boy -- and straight up busted out in tears when he worried that his dad might not want him. meep! I just. I can't even express -- okay, no, wait:
Alex is brilliant and this story is brilliant and YOU ARE BRILLIANT.
