It's interesting, 'cos I don't think I'd ever read the original story before (and I read quite a bit featuring the New Zealand boys back in the day), so when I went and read it after I read the remix, I expected Marton to show up . . . somewhere. A line in passing, whatever. And then the story turned out to be so focussed on Harry and Karl as to admit no others, though it seems clear that if Karl just turned his head he might notice his life had more room for him to explore than he seems to think it does. And that it might be okay for him to step outside of the box he's keeping himself in and check some of it out.

And the remix shows us some of that room (perhaps not the healthiest - whee, infidelity) and maybe some of the emotions that are keeping him where he is (guilt, indecision). And does it beautifully, through the biased eyes of Marton. I mean, it's clear he's treating his experience as representative of all experiences of being with Harry . . . and, yet, if the original story is anything to go by, he's maybe not entirely wrong. And yet we can't actually know that whilst reading the remix (unless we happen to have read the original story before), so it comes across as wonderfully flawed in the end.

. . . and I think I shall quit rambling here. Though I will perhaps have more to say after the reveal. Cheers.
