I loved your original story! I had a hard time choosing, actually, until I saw that, and then I knew.

I figure Boomer haunts Cally, in a way, because they were friends of a sort, and rivals of a sort, and colleagues, and I can't imagine that shooting someone doesn't tie them to you after a fashion. I missed the Cally of the miniseries and the first season, so I wanted to go back to that. Jayne's the best because he'll say anything.
