I love how you've given it an entirely new shape and still come around to the same place. The differences...oh, I love what you've done with the differences; the lines that relate back to canon, the lines that relate back to my story and this beautiful new framework that stands on its own.
I love what you've captured here from each of the characters; Dean's insecurity and hopelessness and self-flagellation and, still, persistence in the face of what he thinks is hopeless and Sam's curiosity and faith and strength and the leash of his instincts. And John...oh, John.
I love how seamless this is. It doesn't need my story; it is a magnificent idea in its own right, plausibly canonical, gritty and dark but still with such soaring hopefulness at the end. I'm completely brainkinked by the idea of the tattoos and Sam being the one to free Dean from them and the toyed-with idea of Sam's ownership at that point. It's the kind of story that I want to examine and think about and deconstruct and embroider on...
I know that the story wasn't written for ME, but it is, even so, a gift and a pleasure. Thank you.
