I love this! Thanks so much for writing it. It takes that earlier episode and brings it to the fore, clothes the few scraps I wrote in a whole fully-realised and emotional scene, still all about Giles but without all that hindsight. I think the use of his father's gun and his father's words of advice is my favourite idea - explaining both the weapon and where he got the impetus to make the shots.

Since Echoes, I've written some pre-series Giles around his early Watcher days, but I've never written this scene, and now I don't think I need to. I shall point others at this instead. *g*
