I'm so happy that you're happy with it. Like you said, it was one of the obvious things to change, but I've enjoyed writing Kennedy for a while now and I was hopeful I could make it worthwhile.
The ending though, was odd. I was busy pounding it out, two days before it was due to be posted, and shot four paragraphs past that point before my hindbrain's frantic tapping on my skull finally registered, and I belatedly realised I'd actually ended the story by accident. And the more I sat there and looked at it, the more I slowly realised that the story was all about Kennedy accepting Willow's departure and moving on. That, and that in my version, Willow didn't deserve Kennedy back.
I used to laugh at authors who said the characters took over the plot. No more. Xander did that a couple of times too : demanding to carry on the regular phone calls, both to see if there was any Willow news, and just being Xander to his new Kennedy-shaped friend.
