I love Donna. What a creepy, creepy fic. I was sad when the Doctordonna's memories were modified, and she became a new, old insecure Donna, all her brilliant growth taken from her. I can understand Martha and her obsession with undoing it, but the way you wrote it in this fic it's totally creepy, just as wrong a thing to do as when the Doctor took her memory, and just as vitally necessary a sacrifice.

I'm both grossed out by and sympathetic to Martha. I resent her a bit for loving potential Donna more than actual Donna, potential Doctordonna, potential fellow companion Donna, potential not-feeling-threatened-by-Martha's-top-secret-job Donna, and feel sorry for her for falling in love with actual Donna just as she's decided to sacrifice her.

Hmm, if Donna is a volcano whose layers it's maybe not the best idea to peel off, and if Donna is a human sacrifice, then the metaphor takes on a disturbing Escher quality when I try to imagine it literally. I laughed when the device was found in an actual volcano.
