*staggers in late, still trying to catch up with all the awesome fics out there*

This is wonderful! I love the three tough little girls, each coping in their own way, and Hisako and Megan, in particular, sparking off each other. The sense of stillness in the night, a time when the intense business of the school is muted, was very strong in this, and I think it made night feel like a refuge, like Hisako's armour. You really managed to get that feeling across without ever showing the frantic daytime flipside, and that's amazing.
